As a stay-at-home mother to two active boys, ages 4 and 2, I had been out of the working world since April 2005, several weeks before my second son was born. While I love staying at home with them, I finally felt after a little over a year, that I needed something to do to make myself feel more productive. I LOVE to sew and basically taught myself over the years, with a few helpful pointers from a wonderful sister-in-law and lots of trial and error. After looking for a purse over the summer and being discouraged with the selection and prices, I decided I would make my own purse. What could be a more practical way to have the 'perfect purse' without paying an arm and a leg for it?
Once I made my own purse, friends and family began expressing interest in having me also make them a purse, which I gladly did. This got me thinking that maybe I could make a little extra money while doing something I loved to do anyway. So from there I did a little research, bought a little (or a lot) of fabric and started sewing. I now have a hobby that has turned profitable. I have 'the perfect job'...I don't have to wear dress clothes, deal with an irritating boss, or any other of the nuisances of working outside of my home. But by and far the best part is that I still get to stay home and raise my children...what more could anyone ask for?
